Previous models of the AKG C1000 S already proved themselves as versatile all-rounders for reportage, stage, and studio use. Even without phantom power, the C1000S is always ready to go thanks to its internal battery supply. In the new MK IV version, battery life has been extended to up to 120 hours, powered by two AA cells. The battery indicator displays the charge status and gives a warning one hour before the batteries are depleted.
An additional included adapter, the Presence Boost Converter, enhances speech intelligibility and brings out the clarity of acoustic instruments by boosting frequencies between 5 and 9 kHz. A -10 dB pad switch prevents internal clipping at high sound pressure levels, allowing use with loud instruments such as brass or drums. The switchable low-cut filter at 80 Hz reduces handling noise and low-frequency rumble. Whether used as an overhead pair for drum miking, for brass instruments, for miking acoustic guitars, or as a vocal and speech microphone, the AKG C1000S delivers excellent results.
AKG C1000 SGot this as a vocal mic for stage use clipped into a stand. It's a similar quality sound to an SM58 I would say, perhaps a little clearer. The bass cut switch is an absolute necessity as the proximity effect is very noticeable. This mic replaces a Rode NT5 I have used for 10 years in the same application, but unfortunately is nothing like the sound quality. I will save up and buy another Rode next time.
I was looking for a decent recording microphone for a mini home studio. I'm not an expert but it's safe to say that I got more than I expected. Crystal clear sound, well built, and it came as described with all the accessories included. If you don't use it in a soundproof ambient it will pick up your neighbours chatting, your heart rate and bowel movement.
Jokes aside, delivery was on time. Communication with the seller was straight on point and quick. That being said I am a happy customer, most likely to return in the future.
