The 88C is a compact and powerful dynamics section based on the legendary Neve 88R console. Equipped with a VCA compressor/limiter, the unit offers precise control over transients and dynamics. The adaptive attack and release system adapts to the input signal and enables organic and musical compression. In addition, the Fast Attack mode offers a response time of just 0.1 ms for fast transients.
The 88C has a variable ratio setting from 1:1 to limiting, while the Gain Reduction display provides detailed control over the level reduction. The auto-release function ensures transparent level feedback, while the anti-breathe technology minimises unwanted pumping and breathing effects. A switchable sidechain high-pass filter with selectable frequencies (80 Hz, 125 Hz, 300 Hz) prevents excessive compression from low-frequency signals.
Integration into existing setups is achieved via balanced 6.35 mm TRS connections for inputs and outputs as well as separate key inputs for sidechain compression. The stereo link mode allows both channels to be controlled synchronously, making the device ideal for bus compression or stereo signals. A true bypass mode allows A/B comparisons without sound colouration.
Power is supplied via a USB-C connection, and the device operates efficiently with a low power consumption of less than 5 watts. Thanks to its compact design and robust workmanship, the 88C is suitable for both professional studios and mobile setups.
