The Allen & Heath CQ12T is a compact digital mixer for home recording, streaming, band rehearsals, voice recording and small live setups. With 10 mic/line preamps, 96 kHz engine and 7" touchscreen, it offers a clear solution for users who want to mix and record directly on the device.
Operation combines haptic controls with a capacitive multi-touch display. The Gain Assistant helps with levelling the preamps, while the Feedback Assistant detects and reduces disruptive feedback frequencies on the outputs. This means that rehearsals, small gigs and voice setups can be set up more quickly.
Two FX assist engines with reverb, delay and modulation effects are available for sound processing. Quick Input modes facilitate quick settings, while Complete Input provides access to detailed channel parameters. This makes the mixer suitable for both beginners and experienced users who need more control.
Recording and playback are possible via USB, SD card and Bluetooth. The 16x18 USB-B interface and SD multitrack recording also make the CQ12T interesting for recording workflows. In addition, the CQ-MixPad app and CQ4You app enable remote control and customised monitor mixes via smartphone or tablet.

You want manual control? No problem. The input channels can be switched between two operating modes. Quick Input provides users with source-specific settings that can be adjusted using a single control. Complete Input, on the other hand, allows full control over all channel parameters. The CQ series also introduces a new range of high-quality, user-friendly reverb, delay and modulation algorithms with instrument-specific presets that can be set up very quickly. The FX Assist function dynamically shapes an effect depending on the input signal for best transparency. The CQ-12T has two FX engines available.
The mixer also impresses with flexible recording and playback options, including a multi-channel USB audio interface, SD card support for multi-track playback and recording, simple stereo recording and playback via an external USB memory device and practical stereo playback via Bluetooth. The range of features of the CQ series is further enhanced with a pair of free multi-platform apps. The CQ-MixPad app enables remote control of the mixers, while the CQ4You app allows musicians to take control of their own monitor mixes from their own smartphones or tablets.
It works great and the ease of use is also great. Some features could be added/changed to the UI, but hopefully they will be added in future updates
