With the AstroLab 88, Arturia introduces a modern performance synthesizer that brings together 25 years of innovation, development, and passion. It seamlessly combines Arturia’s acclaimed software instruments with stage- and studio-ready hardware. The unit immediately stands out with its elegant design and clearly structured control surface. The fully weighted 88-key hammer-action keyboard delivers an authentic playing feel and supports channel aftertouch for expressive performance. Thanks to dual multi-timbrality, two sounds can be layered or played simultaneously. In live scenarios, this allows one part to be played manually while the other is triggered via a DAW. Alternatively, a split point can be defined so both parts can be performed directly on the keyboard. To the right of the central navigation control (“porthole”) are ten preset buttons for instant sound access, along with four macro controls for real-time parameter adjustments. Effects can be edited quickly via dedicated knobs and buttons. Additional features such as a flexible arpeggiator, chord mode, and MIDI looper reinforce its role as a powerful standalone performance instrument.

Sonically, the AstroLab 88 draws from ten advanced synthesis engines, including virtual analog, sampling, wavetable, FM, granular, physical modeling, vector synthesis, harmonic synthesis, phase distortion, Karplus-Strong, and vocoder. It comes with over 1,600 factory presets. When connected to a computer running Arturia Analog Lab Pro, access expands to more than 10,000 sounds effectively placing the full V Collection at your fingertips. Four macro controls enable fast, expressive sound shaping, while 17 insert effects plus delay and reverb provide comprehensive processing options. Custom sounds can also be imported. The workflow is designed for immediate access to a vast sound library, while deeper editing can be performed via a connected computer.
The AstroLab 88’s futuristic aesthetic is enhanced by its modern white finish, clean layout, and elegant wooden side panels. Backlit buttons ensure clear visibility in low-light environments. Rotary encoders feature LED rings, and even the modulation wheel includes an LED indicator. A trigger LED above each key visually reflects played notes and DAW output. The circular navigation wheel with integrated OLED display clearly shows the selected engine and active preset, making navigation intuitive and efficient.

The rear panel offers extensive connectivity for both studio and stage use. In addition to the keyboard, there are inputs for expression, sustain, and two footswitch pedals—expanding real-time control options. MIDI connectivity is handled via standard MIDI In/Out ports and USB, making it easy to control external gear such as rack expanders. Stereo line inputs (XLR combo jacks) also accept microphone signals, while balanced stereo outputs ensure high-quality audio output. A USB-C port handles data exchange with a computer, and the USB-A port allows connection of external storage devices or additional USB-MIDI controllers.
