Designed for close-up & distance recording

A huge advantage of the ATR6550 is its two "operating modes". The possibility to switch from cardioid to supercardioid polar pattern expands its range of applications enormously. While the cardioid polar pattern is optimized for close-up shots, the supercardioid is ideal for recording dialogues or sounds from a great distance. Ambient noise is very effectively suppressed.

The sound of the ATR6550 can be described as crisp, resulting in excellent speech intelligibility whether miked close up or from a distance.
