The varying height gradations of the Auralex 2" Studiofoam Metro-24 Charcoal cause the sound energy to be absorbed to varying degrees and to be returned to the room in a conforming manner. This means that the sound waves have to travel different distances to hit the wall through the foam gradations and return to the room. The sound is therefore attenuated rather than completely absorbed.

This way the 2" Studiofoam Metro gives the room a little more "life" - compared to a room equipped with a stronger absorber like 3" or 4" studiofoam wedges or pyramids.

With an appropriate number of Metro Fusor diffusers and Metro LENRD bass traps you can achieve a well controlled, natural sounding room.
