Behringer FLOW 4V

The Behringer FLOW 4V is an extremely low-noise field recorder and fully-fledged mixer for professional recordings on the road, at Set or for live productions - including convenient, wireless remote control. At its heart are four high-quality MIDAS microphone preamps with switchable phantom power and a two-stage A/D conversion that enables a dynamic range of up to 138 dB. This means that even very quiet signals can be captured cleanly, while at the same time leaving enough headroom for surprising level peaks. Up to 10 channels can be recorded directly to an SD card and in parallel via the class-compliant USB interface - either in 32-bit float for maximum security or in 24-bit fixed point. Thanks to the dual-stage conversion, no analog gain setting is necessary; 32-bit float recordings in particular allow convenient level adjustment afterwards without losing valuable takes due to overloading or too low a level.

The FLOW 4V also impresses as a mixer with its comprehensive features: the integrated 8-channel mixer offers level, pan, low-cut, tone control, high-cut and dynamics processing - ideal for shaping signals cleanly at the recording location. For voice and conference situations, there is also an automixing function for up to eight channels, which uses a gentle gain-sharing algorithm to ensure a balanced mix. A pre-record buffer ensures that spontaneous "golden moments" are not missed. Particularly practical: After stopping, recordings are automatically copied from the SD card to a connected USB stick - an additional safety gain without detours.

For modern setups, StageConnect offers multi-channel, uncompressed audio transmission with less than 1 ms latency via standard XLR/DMX cables. The FLOW 4V can be optionally expanded with the StageConnect FLOW 4VIO - including remote power, four additional microphone inputs and two headphone outputs. The recorder is also ideally equipped when it comes to synchronization: SMPTE timecode can be generated internally, and an SMPTE clock can also be applied via the aux stereo input to synchronize the internal Clock. For talkback or playback, the FLOW 4V receives audio signals from mobile devices via Bluetooth, and a camera CEC signal can be used via HDMI to conveniently trigger the recording.

The power supply is versatile via StageConnect or USB-C; a power supply unit is already included in the scope of delivery. For use on camera rigs or tripods, the FLOW 4V has an integrated 1/4"-20 thread with mounting screw - including an integrated Allen key for quick installation. The concept is rounded off by the FLOW 4V MIX app for iOS and Android, which enables convenient remote control via Bluetooth LE. All in all, the Behringer FLOW 4V is a sophisticated all-in-one solution for anyone who wants to make mobile recordings with maximum security, high sound quality and professional connection and sync options.
