The mixer takes its name from Behringer's legendary XENYX mic preamps, which have been praised by sound engineers worldwide. These state-of-the-art mic preamps represent an important step in the evolution of audio technology. XENYX preamps offer a dynamic range of 130 dB with a frequency response from below 10 Hz to well over 200 kHz. Equipped with these high-quality microphone preamps, the mixer delivers transparent and crystal-clear reproduction.
Thanks to the integrated bi-directional stereo USB audio interface, you can connect directly to a PC or Mac via a single USB cable. Any signal source connected to the mixer can then be recorded directly to your hard drive.
To fully exploit the potential of the XENYX 302USB for recording and podcasting, Behringer provides a comprehensive software package for audio recording, editing and podcasting—available free for download from behringer.com. This allows you to go straight from your instrument to your PC or Mac with ease. Furthermore, Behringer offers a free download of more than 150 virtual instruments and FX plug-ins, turning your computer into a powerful home or mobile recording studio.
Behringer XENYX 302 USBI needed a USB interface to record early demos and ideas. I also wanted something portable and cheap, and since Ive been using Behringer products for quite some time, I knew I had to try this one!
Its a plug and play device, but its better if you install the simple driver in behringers website. The rest is just playing!!! I already recorded 2 types of microphones (condenser and dynamic) and bass guitar (coming from a pre-amp) and it all worked great! Sometimes you can hear some noise in the monitoring, but then the final file is clean, which works for me, since I just wanted something to record ideas.
A must buy if you want portability and quality at a low price!
Just a side note: some phantom powered condenser microphones might not work with it, because since its USB powered doesnt provide the full 48V that some condensers need.
The mixer has a great pre-amp and good for a single input as well for sending out the mix through USB to your computer, however a second USB port would have been really useful to allow the device to be powered whilst also attaching to devices such as tablets or phones as well. Other than this the mixer is great for what it does and is suitable for a single-user operating podcasts or wanting to set-up a clear quality conference call system.
