The Bugera V5 Infinium Guitar Amp Combo is a 5-watt class A combo amp. Building on Bugera's original and inspired V55 amp design, the impressively full-featured and hand-built, 5 watt, 2-channel V5 Infinium tube combo amplifier not only exudes vintage sound and style but possesses modern features that will launch your tone into the sonic stratosphere.
Loaded with 1 x 12AX7 preamp and a 1 x EL84 power tube, Bugera's revolutionary INFINIUM Tube Life Multiplier Technology and amazing 8" Turbosound speaker this incredible boutique-style amp gives you the sound of its larger sibling in a compact single channel amplifier, ideal for practice at home.
This amp is perfect for home practise, recording and rehearsal at a push. The power attenuator makes it simpler to get good valve tone at lower volumes and the amps tone is a great starting place for adding pedals.
For rehearsal it may not be loud enough over a loud drummer but you can plug in larger external cabs for some more punch.
My only gripe with it is the lack of an effects loop as I will usually play the amp driven and thats not great for running reverb and delay pedals into, but it does have a nice built in reverb.
Pros, the tone is great and varied, could do with a little more treble on the tone knob though but an eq pedal will sort this.
Compact and not too heavy.
Attenuator is effective.
Built in reverb is a nice feature.
All in all a great small amp that can be used in a variety of situations.
This week I bought a duellist overdrive pedal from king of Tone, the Revival Drive from Origin Effects and this lovely little amp. The two pedals cost nearly £700 between them and the Bugera only £189 but my favourite tone comes from the Bugera itself largely because the built in attenuator allows you to really cook the single valves at pre amp and power amp stage without annoying the neighbours. This makes the Bugera a lot of fun. It’s tone control could be improved to raise the brightness but for the price I’m not complaining. This is definitely more of a British than an American tweed sound. And the addition of pedals - which it takes well - can potentially increase the brightness. The onboard 8 inch speaker is fine for practice and the amp is just about portable enough to use for travel. The speaker jack is accessible on the back panel, so it can be swapped easily for a guitar cabinet if you wanted to gig this machine or open up the sound (it’s 5 watts can still be loud enough for small venues). If, like me, you have been dependent on fender amps for home playing and you want a good alternative ‘Marshall’ sound at bedroom levels, then look no further!
