The Charvel Pro-Mod San Dimas Bass PJ V CM Metallic Black is a hot-rodded five-string precision bass from the California-based Hard’n’Heavy specialists. Combining exceptional playability with a versatile and powerful sound, it is ideal for demanding players across multiple genres. The alder body and caramelized maple bolt-on neck provide a solid foundation, while the PJ pickup configuration delivers a dynamic, multi-faceted tone. Durable hardware, including a HiMass bridge and open-gear tuners, completes this modern P-bass.

The comfortable "Slim C" neck made of caramelized maple and the alder body of the Pro-Mod San Dimas Bass PJ V are bolted together.
Caramelized Maple Neck and Alder Body.
Beneath the sleek metallic black finish, the alder body of the Pro-Mod San Dimas Bass follows traditional lines for ergonomic comfort. The bolt-on caramelized maple neck features a “Slim C” profile with satin finish and rounded fingerboard edges, ensuring smooth and effortless playability. Fluorescent Luminlay side dots between the 20 frets enhance visibility on dark stages, complementing the classic dot inlays.
A Charvel split-coil and a DiMarzio Area J pickup together with the active 3-band EQ provide versatile bass sounds.
Charvel and DiMarzio pickups
Tone comes from a classic PJ setup with a Charvel 5-string P split coil in the middle position, providing punchy low-mid growl, and a DiMarzio Area J single coil at the bridge, delivering a tight, balanced sound across all frequencies. Even the low B-string retains precise definition. An active 3-band tone control allows fine adjustment of the overall sound, giving the player complete control over the timbre.
Charvel open-gear bass machine heads keep the Pro-Mod San Dimas PJ 5-string bass securely in tune.
Durable hardware
The Charvel HiMass bridge supports the bass’s vibrant sound and even sustain, with five individually adjustable string saddles for precise intonation and string height. The “4+1” headstock design features open-gear tuners for stable and reliable tuning, ensuring the instrument performs perfectly in both studio and live settings.
