Despite its traditional San Dimas styling, the Charvel Sean Long Signature Pro-Mod San Dimas Style 1 offers thoroughly modern playability for virtuoso lead techniques and precise riffing. The alder body features generous comfort contours and provides excellent balance whether played standing with a strap or seated. Another highlight is the bolt-on maple neck reinforced with graphite rods. Its fast “Speed Neck” profile and compound fingerboard radius, which becomes flatter toward the higher frets, allow effortless execution of virtually any playing technique. Fluorescent Luminlay side dots also ensure reliable orientation between the 22 jumbo frets even on dark stages.

EMG pickups for tight sounds

For his signature model, Sean Long chose the popular combination of EMG 57 and EMG 66 humbuckers, which combine the tonal characteristics of passive and active pickups. The active EMG 57 humbucker in the bridge position uses Alnico V magnets and steel pole pieces to produce a powerful, highly articulate tone. Even in low drop tunings, each note remains clearly defined with excellent punch. In the neck position, the EMG 66 uses ceramic pole pieces and Alnico V magnets to deliver a distinct vintage character and impressive clarity. Overdriven tones sing with smooth sustain, while clean sounds retain a warm, balanced character. The pickups are controlled via a three-way selector switch and a master volume control.
