Before the introduction of the DiMarzio DP100 Super Distortion Humbucker in the early 70's, there were simply no replacement pickups to buy. The Super Distortion (and the original 3-wire version, the Dual sound) was the first pickup designed specifically to overdrive tube amps.
As the first high gain pickup in history, it sounds fat, mid and loud with powerful bass. A sound you know from countless recordings. Played by guitarists like Ace Frehley, Al Di Meola and Paul Gilbert. One of the best all around high gain pickups of all time!
