DiMarzio DP100 Super Distortion Nickel Cover at a glance
Before the introduction of the DP100 Super Distortion humbucker in the early 1970s, there were virtually no replacement pickups available. The Super Distortion (including the original three-wire Dual Sound version) was the first pickup specifically designed to overdrive tube amplifiers. As the first high-gain pickup in history, it delivers a fat, mid-range-focused, and loud tone with powerful bass. Its iconic sound can be heard on countless recordings by guitarists such as Ace Frehley, Al Di Meola, and Paul Gilbert. The DP100 remains one of the best all-around high-gain pickups of all time.
