DiMarzio DP100 Super Distortion Satin Nickel Cover at a glance

Before the release of the DP100 Super Distortion humbucker in the early 1970s, replacement pickups simply didn’t exist. The Super Distortion—and its original three-wire counterpart, the Dual Sound – was the first pickup specifically designed to push tube amps into overdrive. As the first high-gain pickup in history, it delivers a fat, mid-focused tone with strong lows and plenty of output.

It’s a sound heard on countless recordings and favored by players like Ace Frehley, Al Di Meola, and Paul Gilbert. Truly one of the most versatile and iconic high-gain pickups ever made.
