Before the introduction of DiMarzio's Super Distortion in the early '70s, replacement pickups simply weren't available. The Super Distortion (and its original 3-conductor version, the Dual Sound) was the first pickup with the purpose to overdrive tube amps. This first high gain pickup sounds fat, loud and provides mighty mids and low- end tones. A distinct sound that can be heard on numerous recordings. Guitar legends like Ace Frehley, Al Di Meola or Paul Gilbert trusted the Super Distortion.
