The Selector 8 is a complete set with switchbox, sensors and signal sources for interaction with the Elta Music Solar 42 Ambient Synthesizer. The eponymous part of the bundle is an 8-way switchbox with 8x 6.3 mm and 3.5 mm jack inputs to 1x 6.3 mm and 3.5 mm jack output with switch. As the switchbox is passive, you can also turn the tables and switch one source to eight destinations. The supplied signal sources and sensors as well as "external" sources such as a smartphone are connected to the box and the output is connected to the input of the Solar 42's PREAMP. The Preamp forwards the incoming signal to the ENVELOPE FOLLOWER (EF) in the MIXER. The scope of delivery includesthree contact microphones with suction cup, clamp and bracket for various applications, an FM radio and a QVJ. This already covers five of the Switchbox's eight inputs. The contact microphones are able to capture ambient noise, the slight shaking of the speakers being turned up, scratching on the table top, tapping a pot or window pane, breathing exercises and much more. These signals are more suited to being output by the envelope follower as CV and Gate. The QVJ can capture ambient sounds including speech, which, like the signals received from the FM radio, can be processed with the Solar 42's filters and effects and/or used with the EF to drive and modulate the Solar 42's entire ecosystem.
