Kirk Hammett, who joined Metallica in 1983 during the recording of Kill 'Em All, is one of the most famous and influential guitarists of the Bay Area thrash metal scene. Since 1987, he has been part of the elite circle of ESP Guitars endorsers. The ESP LTD KH-602 Black was tailored specifically for him and is considered one of the most successful signature models ever. With a full-length maple neck, alder body wings, active EMG Bone Breaker pickups, and a Floyd Rose tremolo, it is perfectly suited for fat leads and whipping riffs.

The active EMG KH-BB Bone Breaker humbuckers, developed in close collaboration with Kirk Hammett, handle the guitar’s electric tone. The EMG BB-N Alnico V humbucker on the neck and the EMG BB-B ceramic humbucker on the bridge produce tight riffs and searing metal leads. Tone control is managed via a standard 3-way switch with individual volume knobs and a master treble cutoff.
