The ESP LTD MH-417 Black Satin from the LTD series combines the popular MH design with the extended range of the seven-string. Here the basic construction with through maple neck for lightning fast attack and a resonant tune-o-matic bridge strings-thru-body clearly proves that this 7-string is designed for mercilessly tight sounds of metal. Two active EMG 81-7 and 85-7 humbuckers in neck and bridge position of the MH417 represent the seven-string versions of the popular EMG 81/85 combination and deliver tried and tested hot active humbucker sounds, which with their juicy output drive almost every amp into distorting realms. furthermore, the LTD MH-417 with its noble Black Satin Finish and a hardware equipment in Black Nickel design also pleases visually.
ESP LTD MH-417 7-String Electric G uitar, Black Satin Incredible price from DV247, guitar is nicely balanced, the EMG pickups don't have the bright sterile sound usually associated with them. This I attribute to the Pau Ferro fingerboard which adds a lovely lower mids warmth.
Neck is slim and the XJ frets are perfectly suited to it. Good weight balance on a strap and amazing tuning stability. Issues? The satin colour will eventually wear shiny patches, the painted neck gets sticky after a while would prefer a normal neck. When the neck on mine gets shiny will strip it back to bare wood and Tung oil it :)
