The two active EMG pickups offer a brute sound and dynamic output. Particularly in the thrash metal genre, the pickups can be fed with a rough Distortion and a cracking high gain and allow a balanced tone to come through. The EMG 85X in the bridge position is characterized by a warm sound that handles the bass frequencies cleanly, while the EMG 81X in the bridge position shines with an extraordinary Output. While the bass and mids come through with plenty of substance, the treble frequencies remain present and can prove themselves as extroverted frequencies in the sound image, whereby lead solos or high riffs act with a decent punch.
