Semi-hollow guitar with EVH sound
The SA-126 Special QM EB El Natural, developed in collaboration with Wolfgang Van Halen, represents EVH’s exploration of the space between traditional solidbody design and vibrant semi-hollow tones. This semi-resonant instrument features two model-specific humbuckers delivering a versatile sound, from sophisticated shredding to expressive cleans, while the neck’s classic slim profile and compound fretboard radius ensure signature EVH playability. The guitar comes complete with a matching EVH Ivory case.
As a link between solidbody and semi-hollow, the EVH SA-126 Special offers a broad sound spectrum.
Mahogany body with resonance chamber and center block
Unlike many semi-hollow guitars constructed from separate back, top, and sides, the EVH SA-126 Special features a mahogany body with a flamed maple top. The upper half houses a hollow-milled resonance chamber with a distinctively shaped F-hole, complemented by a basswood center block. This design perfectly combines the direct response of a solidbody guitar with the warm, acoustic-like timbre of a semi-hollow construction. A 5-ply black-and-cream body binding completes the elegant finish.
Direct-mount EVH SA-126 humbuckers
To capture the SA-126’s unique tonal character, it is equipped with two EVH SA-126 humbuckers specially wound for this model. The bridge pickup delivers everything needed for powerful rock and metal tones, while the neck humbucker produces warm, full sounds suitable for expressive jazz lines and melodic leads. Both pickups feature individual volume and tone controls for precise blending in the intermediate position.
