For the construction of the EVH Wolfgang Special, Eddie Van Halen relies on time-tested elements essential to a true rock guitar. The body is crafted from basswood, known for its balanced tonal response, while the bolt-on maple neck, featuring visible growth rings, is topped with a smooth ebony fretboard. This thoughtful combination of tonewoods contributes to the guitar’s dynamic feel and punchy sound. The compact, boldly contoured body pairs seamlessly with the comfortable neck profile, and the compound fretboard radius, which transitions from 12" to 16", ensures optimal playability across the entire neck. The EVH Wolfgang Special EB Pelham Green features two high-output EVH Wolfgang humbuckers developed by Eddie Van Halen himself. These pickups deliver a fat, balanced rock tone with rich sustain for solos and tight definition for rhythm playing. A 3-way toggle switch along with dedicated volume and tone controls offer flexible sound control. The smooth-turning volume knob enables fade-ins and swells, while the firm tone knob resists accidental adjustments – ideal for live use.
The EVH Wolfgang Special comes equipped with a Floyd Rose locking tremolo, delivering rock-solid tuning stability – even during extreme dive bombs and squeals. An added highlight is the EVH D-Tuna on the low E-string, allowing instant drop tuning without adjusting the vibrato. The distinctive EVH headstock is fitted with precise die-cast tuners for reliable performance.
