The Earthworks SR20LS is a condenser microphone with transmission characteristics tailored to the sound characteristics of the kick drum. Compared to a dynamic microphone, a microphone like the SR20LS creates a much faster impulse response with a balanced frequency response thanks to a smaller diaphragm area and active electronics. The result is a very direct, attack-rich sound without boomy or muddy mids or a bloated bass range. Thanks to its special tuning, the SR20LS can handle an unusually high level of up to 150 dB SPL for a condenser microphone, so that overdriving is practically impossible.

The SR20LS delivers a spacious, natural kick sound that can be easily bent in any direction with EQ and compressor, and you don 't have to worry about a lack of fatness and low end: Even if the frequency response of the microphone is dead straight, the low frequencies are even transmitted in phase due to the accurate transient mapping in the bass range, so that they do not have to be tamed so much in the Mix or that cancellations threaten.
