Big Muff Pi 2 with Tone Wicker circuit: Op-amp fuzz with an extended tonal spectrum
The Electro Harmonix Big Muff Pi 2 with Tone Wicker expands the classic op-amp Big Muff sound to offer additional tonal flexibility and an extended frequency spectrum. In addition to the characteristic rich sustain and massive fuzz gain, the TONE bypass switch delivers an unfiltered full-range sound, whilst the three-position WICKER switch provides greater brilliance and presence in the treble range. The familiar control layout, featuring Volume, Tone and Sustain controls, remains unchanged, whilst the combination of classic Muff sounds and expanded tonal options makes the pedal appealing for both traditional and modern fuzz applications. The pedal is based on a previously unpublished circuit design by EHX co-founder Bob Myer from the late 1970s, which was only rediscovered in his archives decades later. Following the reconstruction of the original hand-drawn schematics, a unique Big Muff was created, which sounds distinctly different from familiar versions.
