Erica Synths' generously dimensioned drum computerPérkons HD-01 combines digital sound generation with easy operation and analog purism. Pérkons means "thunder", and the hybrid sound generation together with the analog effects and their interlinking within the instrument more than do justice to this natural phenomenon. A big bang, a firework of other sounds in between; peppered with coincidences and waiting, something like this must have been in Erica Synths 's mind when developing the Pérkons HD-01. Those who prefer the Four-to-the-Floor scheme will also get their money's worth here. This versatile drum synthesizer covers a wide range of sounds between "plok" and "booooom".
limited special edition
The Perkons HD-01 Grey Limited Edition is presented in a beautiful gray tone. However, the visual highlight is the handcrafted wooden side panels. These are made of different types of wood and have a vein-like structure that is filled and finished with resin. This gives each individual side panel a unique structure, no two are the same, making each Pérkons HD-01Grey LEunique!
Sound generation and effects
Each of the four voices has three modes that cover a different repertoire. What they all have in common is the structure of the channel, which is made up of digital sound generation and analog post-processing using a multimode filter (LP, BP HP), overdrive and its own FX insert. In total, there is an analog, very charismatic BBD delay with its own modulation LFO, a master overdrive and an optical compressor. If the FX inserts are not assigned, both the corresponding channel and the sum are routed through the BBD-Delay. A synchronizable master LFO with seven waveforms can be applied to one of eight destinations per channel, giving the drum patterns a lot of liveliness. Sound settings can be saved in 64 memory locations.
Sequencer
The clever sequencer has more tricks up its sleeve than you might think at first. The step length (up to 64 steps/4 bars), the playback direction and the divider/multiplier ratio can be set for each track. Ratcheting (multiple trigger) and probability can also be programmed for each step. Shuffle can be activated for all tracks for more funk and "Chicago feeling". Parameter automation for recording controller movements in the pattern is also available. The created patterns can be saved and recalled in a total of 64 memory locations. If this is not enough, additional patterns can be saved on a separately available SD card.
Connections
The unusually full rear of this drum computer offers a single output per channel, send/return connections for external effect devices and a velocity-sensitive trigger input, which means that the corresponding channel or all four can be played dynamically via an e-drum pad. The main output is mono and also has send/return connections. Pérkons can be connected to other sequencers and controllers via MIDI.
