Pandora by Expert Sleepers is a combination of bandpass filter and distortion, whose circuit is based on an unusual combination of MOSFET transistors and vactrols. The range of the filter is adjusted with alpha and beta, covering areas for which one would use a lowpass or highpass filter; with Pandora this is done continuously. The frequency range set with Alpha and Beta is emphasized with the Feedback parameter. With Gain the input signal is discreetly levelled or completely overdriven. Here the sonic peculiarities of the MOSFET transistors and Vactrol combination come to the fore, because the distortion sounds decidedly organic is definitely one of the harder of its kind. Since each of the five parameters has its own CV input, Pandora manages to produce lively sound progressions that can hardly be denied their existing bite. The mixing ratio between processed and unprocessed signal can also be modulated via control voltage. With a range switch the filter behavior can be lowered to several octaves, which enables the module to synthesize percussion sounds as soon as it is fed with trigger/gate signals.
