Grand Auditorium acoustic guitar with cutaway and pickup
The Fame A-55 Koa has the individual appearance of a genuine Koa guitar and produces a powerful and at the same time warm sound. Due to its medium-sized Grand Auditorium shape, the instrument is suitable for fine picking as well as for expressive strumming. Furthermore, the combination of a flat neck and a generous cutaway guarantees optimal access to all 20 frets. The built-in pickup system also allows for amplified use on stage and rounds off the instrument's functionality perfectly. Visually, the Fame A-55 Koa is refined by simple Bindings and inlays of abalone, which emphasize the exciting grain of the tonewoods used.
Balanced sound, tasteful design and comprehensive functionality
Each instrument has an individual grain
Construction and woods
Since the top is made of solid koa, every note unfolds quickly and over a wide area and is enriched with a warm note. At the same time, the wafer-thin laminated koa body provides powerful bass and midrange frequencies. Unlike other tonewoods, koa develops its complete sound characteristics only after years, so that you can follow a clear maturation process every time you pick up the guitar. The flat mahogany neck guarantees easy fingering in all frets, which are set into an ebony fingerboard, so that even complex fingering patterns become child's play.
Clean intonation thanks to high-quality hardware
Design and hardware
The 42,9 mm wide bone nut and the corresponding saddle provide a clean intonation on the whole scale length of 650 mm, while the open tuners allow an easy tuning of the 6 steel strings. The coarse-grained top wood is bordered with a simple cream binding that contrasts nicely with the dark tonewood. Matching the Bindingsoundhole rosette is made of abalone as well as the soundhole binding. The 12th fret of the black ebony fretboard features an abalone mountain inlay that subtly emphasizes the guitar's value.
The preamp is hidden in the sound hole
Electronics
The Guitar is equipped with a Fishman Sonitone pickup system, so that the sound can be transmitted to the amplifier without distortion. The output signal and the tone can be adjusted individually and comfortably via a control in the sound hole. The pickup point is located in the form of a piezo pickup under the bridge inlay. The active system is powered by a 9V block battery, which is stowed in a separate battery compartment next to the jack.
