The Fame JB Burl Top Trans Blue at a glance
With the Fame JB Burl Top, the Czech instrument makers from Fame present a truly exceptional 4-string Bass in J-style that has a lot to offer! The classic offset shape of the body immediately provides a familiar playing feel, while the pickups from the renowned US manufacturer Seymour Duncan give the Bass an assertive yet flexible sound characteristic that is perfectly equipped for almost any genre. In addition, the Fame JB Burl top scores with high-quality details such as original Schaller tuners and a fine burl poplar top.
Alder body with elegant burl top
Visually, the Fame JB is an absolute eye-catcher. The body made from traditional alder wood is enhanced by a two-piece top made from strikingly grained burl poplar. The precise bookmatching creates a unique symmetrical pattern on the top that makes every Bass unique. Even if the choice of top is somewhat atypical for this model, the Fame JB remains true to the classic recipe and dispenses with an all-round Binding - the filigree transition to the body therefore remains clearly visible. Naturally, proven ergonomic features such as a generous tummy cut on the back and a comfortable armrest on the front are a must.
Roasted maple neck & rosewood fingerboard
The neck made of heat-treated maple testifies to the high level of wood selection at Fame. Only exquisite riftware is used here, which shines with continuous growth rings from headstock to neck heel and is particularly resistant to weather-related deformations. The slim C-profile provides the fretting hand with a comfortable base for precise playing on the 20-fret rosewood fingerboard. Thanks to the classically narrow nut width of 38.1 mm and a fretboard radius of 10", fans of classic J-style basses will get their money's worth here.
Powerful Seymour Duncan Quarter Pound pickups
Two single coils are used in the body of the Fame JB Burl Top, giving it its famous multi-faceted sound. The enlarged pole pieces of the Seymour Duncan SJB-3 Quarter Pound single coils are made from Alnico V magnets and surrounded by a hotter coil winding. These design features give the pickups enormous power reserves with a defined attack, but they can also produce softer sounds without any problems. The electronics of the JB remain classic and offer separate volume controls for both pickups and a common treble control.
Fame PB Burl Top Trans Blue - Test report on guitar-player.com
Excerpt:"The Fame PB and JB Burl Top electric basses deliver what they promise: a classic feel with a familiar character and a broad spectrum of potential sounds with clearly recognizable DNA of the historical models. The absolute highlight: the quarter pounder from Seymour Duncan. Rarely have I heard a passive bass with so much oomph that you'd be forgiven for thinking there were active electronics under the hood! Nevertheless, the PB and JB models basically remain true to their genre, so Preci and Jazz fans know exactly what they're getting into here."
