The VT-67 from Fame's Pro Series is a tube microphone with switchable polar patterns. This studio microphone offers a choice of cardioid, octagonal, omnidirectional and six intermediate stages, which can be adjusted via the power supply. This makes it an excellent all-round microphone for recording vocals and instruments for project studios and ambitious home recording.
The use of very high-quality components, such as Lundahl transformers and selected EH6072A tubes, gives the microphone its very warm, characteristic, full sound with very low self-noise. A sound that is very popular with musicians and sound engineers for a reason. The microphone itself has two switches that can be used to optionally activate a -10db attenuation and a lowcut.

Summary
A good-value all-rounder that adds a nicely subtle dash of valve flavouring to any recording.
Alternatives
While there are several valve mics that come in under the £800 mark, this is one of the least costly multi-pattern valve mics I've yet encountered.
