The Fender '62 Super Amp is an authentic homage to the coveted "brown panel" amps of the early '60s, when Fender heralded the transition from raw tweed tone to crystal-clear blackface sound. As the first model in this legendary series, the Super Amp now returns as part of the American Vintage series and offers a unique combination of dynamic response and classic tube warmth. With 40 watts of output power, two 10" Celestion Custom Design speakers and the characteristic Harmonic Tremolo, the combo amp delivers a sound that is definitely worth listening to!
With two channels and real tube power, the Fender '62 Super Amp delivers the authentic sound of the early sixties! Front panel controls: Normal channel with controls for volume, treble and bass. Vibrato channel with controls for volume, treble, bass, speed and intensity and global presence control.
Real tube power with a warm response
The brown vinyl housing with "Wheat" front covering, the vintage controls and the classic tweed design underline the character of the amp. At the heart of the '62 Super Amp are two 6L6 power amp tubes, six 12AX7 preamp tubes and a 5AR4 rectifier tube, which creates the incomparable sound of the early sixties. Two separate channels (normal and vibrato) offer individual control options for volume, Treble and bass. The vibrato channel also has speed, intensity and presence controls, allowing the effect to be adjusted from subtle nuances to strong modulation as required. The solid pine wood construction not only ensures a low weight, but also a particularly resonant sound.
Harmonic Tremolo
In terms of sound, the '62 Super Amp shines with warm clean tones that transition into a creamy tube distortion at higher Volume levels. The Harmonic Tremolo - an in-house development by Fender from 1961 - not only modulates the volume, but also the phase and harmonic content of the signal. The result is a floating tremolo effect that goes far beyond conventional amplitude modulation and makes the "Brown Panel" sound so special.
