This 008 - 046 gauge is the ideal for heavy metal and fast players. You have a very soft 1st string for fast and easy pull ups, and a heavier 6th string for better palm muting and power chords. It is not random that Malmsteen plays with this set. Bullets also help to keep things in tune. If they were 008-010-014 I thing it would be better though.
