With the
The Fender Limited Edition George Harrison Rocky Strat uses three '60s Stratocaster single coils hand wound by none other than Abigail Ybarra. The legendary pickup icon looks back on over 50 years of pickup winding experience and is responsible for the most sought-after pickups in Fender history to this day. The result is a carefully tuned set with extremely good dynamic response and sonic assertiveness. The classic Strat circuit with a 5-way switch and traditional Vol-Tone-Tone layout elicits the astonishingly broad sound palette of the coveted sixties Strat from all three single coils, from brilliant bridge sounds to soft intermediate positions to the warm sound of the neck pickup.
Paul Waller followed the original specifications of the classic sixties Stratocaster to develop the Rocky Strat and composed the body from two parts of selected alder. The back of the body is lacquered in the original Sonic Blue finish and has the same play marks and lacquer wear as the original. For the neck, which is attached via the classic 4-point bolt-on connection, high-quality flamed maple body in AAAAA quality with an intensely figured flame is used. Its "Asymmetrical 1960 Oval-C" neck profile, rarely seen on 1960s Strat models, creates authentic Strat feeling in all positions. Further highlights of the Rocky Strat include its rosewood fretboard in classic 7.25" radius with 21 vintage frets and artificially aged dot inlays made of Micarta.
In terms of looks, the Limited Edition George Harrison Rocky Strat built by Paul Waller features all the details of the prototype with the serial number 83840 as well. Thus, on the back of the headstock there is a sticker of the London music store Grimwoods with original wear, testifying the origin of the Rocky Strat. The Psychedelic Dayglo finish, painted by George in 1967 after the Sgt. Pepper Sessions, is modeled in all its facets, including the "Bebopalula" lettering from 1969, the colorful "Go Cat Go" pickguard and the "Rocky" lettering on the headstock, and has been applied to the original Sonic Blue lacquer, just like the original.
