The Fender Limited Edition Player Mustang Bass PJ MN Buttercream is a modernized interpretation of the former student Bass penned by Leo Fender that went from underdog to popular instrument in the alternative rock scene. While the Shortscale scale length of the bass guitar built with classic tonewoods contributes significantly to the buttery-soft playability and characterful sound development, the PJ pickup setup ensures a wide range of tones. Typical Vintage-StyleHardware in the form of a 4-saddle bridge and open tuners completes the Player Mustang Bass from Fender.

The comfortably playable maple neck and the handy alder body of the Player Mustang Bass are connected by four screws and a neckplate.
Traditionally built Bass with high playing comfort
For the construction of the Player Mustang BassFender relies on classic tonewoods in the form of an alder body and a bolt-on maple neck. Here, the short 30" scale length (762 mm) not only provides a buttery smooth playing feel due to the reduced string tension, but also the surprisingly sonorous sound of the four-stringer. The slim C-neck profile with a narrow 38 mm nut width also fits comfortably in the hand, so that every groove succeeds with ease on the 19-fret maple fingerboard.
Split-coil and single-coil pickups with straightforward 3-way switching provide a rich sound spectrum.
Flexible PJ pickup setup.
On the bass amp, the Player Mustang PJ MN Buttercream uses the popular PJ setup of a vintage-style split coil in the middle position and a vintage-style single coil on the bridge for a versatile sound spectrum that ranges from a strong power tone with thrusting bass and low mids to an assertive tone with wiry presence. A straightforward, passive 3-way circuit with toggle switch, volume knob and treble slider allows full control over the sound of the electric bass guitar.
Four open-gear tuners provide stable and accurate tuning at the headstock of the Mustang Bass.
