The Meander-M from Flame is a hybrid synth voice with wavetable oscillator, animatable fixed filter bank and live sequencer. The four-voice instrument draws its sonic foundation from a wavetable oscillator that can also process user waves. The tone generator can also be operated in unison, which produces extremely fat and chorus-like sounds. Waveform and pitch can be modulated equally via the two LFOs. As an alternative to the Wavetables, the oscillator can work with an FM algorithm, which enables metallic and bell-like sounds. The sound spectrum is complemented by a noise generator and an audio input for external signals. The core of the Meander-M is the analog fixed filter bank, which contains twelve fixed bands of 24 dB each. Each band can be controlled by the sequencer and modulated with its own envelope. The twelve bands are released from their static behavior by a mixable combination of the two LFOs and the ADSR envelope. Scanning from band to band, abrupt jumping or random band sweeps allow for tonal variations that give the Meander-M a unique selling point. The basic filter type can also be customized in eight variants.
Sequencer
The sequencer records 15 tracksup to four bars long on request. This includes the synth part with the wavetable oscillator, the audio input, the noise generator and each of the 12 bands of the fixed filter bank. In addition, the handy SHOTS function can be used to create a beat effect for all tracks, which can be related to velocity, clock grid, repetition density and gate time. Even more Live variation is hardly possible!
Audio input and other connections
The audio input can be switched between Line and High-Z (guitar). This allows external signals to be animated using a fixed filter bank, envelope, VCA and LFOs. Everything is possible here, from a static filter cut to extremely dynamic, constantly modulating filter sequences. User is then in control of whether this is applied freely or with a clear BPM reference. A pair of stereo sockets routes the audio signal from the Meander-M to the next instance. In terms of MIDI, the Synthvoice is well equipped: in addition to USB MIDI, there are two MIDI inputs as well as Thru and Out, which allows convenient integration into any MIDI environment. Audio outputs for the oscillator and Noise as well as a freely assignable CV input have also been included.
