The Focal Solo 6 Black is a compact 2-way studio monitor designed for use in professional and semi-professional environments. With its simple design, robust housing and versatile functions, the Solo6 is suitable for a wide range of applications - from classic stereo setups to immersive formats.
One of the most important features of the Solo 6 is the Focus full-range mode, in which the woofer works alone as a full-range loudspeaker. At the touch of a button, the monitor is switched to a single-channel full-range system - ideal for assessing mix balance and mono compatibility. This clever mode not only saves space and cabling, but also effectively replaces a second pair of speakers in the studio.
The "Focus In" and "Focus Out" sockets are located on the rear of the Focal Solo 6 and are used for external control of the Focus mode. A switching signal can be fed in via the "Focus In" socket - for example via a footswitch or a monitor controller - to switch the speaker to single-channel full-range mode (woofer only). The "Focus Out" socket forwards this control signal to other speakers so that several Solo6 models can be switched to focus mode simultaneously and synchronously. In this way, the mode change can be carried out conveniently and without access to the rear panel.

At the heart of the acoustic performance is the inverted beryllium tweeter, which impresses with its low directivity, excellent linearity and high dynamics. Together with the newly developed 6.5" W cone woofer, the Solo 6 offers exceptionally neutral and distortion-free reproduction across the entire spectrum - with a frequency range from 40 Hz to 40 kHz. In Focus mode, it specifically covers the range from 110 Hz to 10 kHz.
Thanks to Tuned Mass Damper (TMD) technology, which is otherwise only used in Focal's flagship models, distortion is significantly reduced, particularly in the critical mid-range of 1-3 kHz. This ensures an extremely finely resolved sound image - ideal for accurate mixing and mastering.
In addition to acoustic excellence, the Solo 6 also scores with practical details: a large laminar bass reflex port minimizes flow noise and ensures clean bass reproduction without disturbing background noise. The robust MDF construction with internal bracing reduces cabinet resonance and ensures mechanical stability. Fixing points for wall or ceiling mounting also make the speaker ideal for use in immersive setups such as Dolby Atmos. The XLR socket on the rear serves as a balanced input.
The Solo 6 also offers extensive sound control options with a parametric mid-range EQ at 160 Hz, as well as LF and HF shelving filters that can be activated. A switchable high-pass filter and the option to switch off the automatic standby function make the monitors even more flexible in day-to-day studio work.
