With authentic specs from the pre-burst era, the 1956 Gibson represents Les Paul Reissue sound, look and feel of classic 1956 Paulas. These include, for example, the strikingly powerful 1956 Les Paul neck profile and the characteristic sound of two P-90 pickups in neck and bridge position. In addition, the instrument from the Gibson Custom Shop has been given a detailed heavy aging finish and nickel hardware to lovingly depict common playing tracks from an LP that has been played over the years.
To get as close as possible to the original, the Gibson Custom Shop relies on the prevailing production techniques of the mid-fifties. Therefore the long neck foot and the blanket of the 1956 Les Paul Reissue with heated ball glue were mounted. The glass hard connection not only provides improved sound characteristics, but also allows simpler neck resets and modifications if required.
As a single coil forerunner of the Humbucker, the P-90 guaranteed wide and powerful sounds without neglecting its classic single coil character. Despite the wide coil winding and characteristic Alnico heat, both pickups cannot deny their single coil construction and offer a correspondingly clear height spectrum. Of course, disturbing trebles can also be removed from the signal at any time using separate tone controls.
