The Gibson 1958 Les Paul Standard Reissue VOS Washed Cherry Sunburst is a historically accurate reissue of the first “Burst” model, capturing the authentic feel and sound of a late-’50s electric guitar. In keeping with tradition, this Gibson Custom model features a mahogany body with a maple top and a glued mahogany neck in a substantial Chunky C-Shape. Outfitted with two Gibson Custombuckers and hand-wired circuitry, the instrument delivers first-class vintage tones almost indistinguishable from the legendary PAFs of the 1950s. The Gibson 1958 Les Paul Standard VOS is also equipped with authentic hardware, including a no-wire ABR-1 Tune-O-Matic bridge, stopbar tailpiece, and Kluson tuners.

Built using traditional methods, the 1958 Les Paul Standard Reissue offers the feel and sound of the legendary “holy grail” Les Pauls. The Gibson Custom Shop crafts the guitar from a one-piece mahogany body with a plain maple top, while the long-tenon mahogany neck is fitted with an Indian rosewood fingerboard. Glass-hard hide glue is used throughout, ensuring optimal resonance and tonal transfer. The strong Chunky C-Shape neck profile, paired with a 12" radius and narrow frets, provides a truly period-correct playing feel.
The two Gibson Custombuckers of the Gibson 1958 Les Paul Standard Reissue are managed by the classic 3-way circuit with authentic oil paper capacitors.
Gibson custom bucker for authentic PAF sounds
For pickups, the Gibson Custom Shop relies on a pair of Custombuckers, faithful recreations of the legendary PAF humbuckers with Alnico III magnets and unpotted coils. The result is a lively, vintage-inspired voice that excels in clean and driven settings alike, from blues and jazz to classic rock. Expect velvety lows, vocal-like mids, and an airy treble spectrum. Control comes via the traditional 3-way toggle, with individual CTS volume and tone pots for each pickup. Authentic oil-paper capacitors ensure especially smooth treble roll-off.
Six Kluson vintage-style tuners with authentic single-line bodies and single-ring wings guarantee precise and stable tuning.

Completing the package, the Gibson 1958 Les Paul Standard Reissue VOS Washed Cherry Sunburst is fitted with vintage-correct hardware. A no-wire ABR-1 Tune-O-Matic bridge and lightweight aluminum stopbar tailpiece – originally developed by Ted McCarty – deliver precise intonation and comfortable string action. A period-correct nylon nut and Kluson single-ring tuners on the headstock ensure stability while preserving vintage authenticity.
