The Gibson 1960 Les Spaul Special DC VOS Cherry Red is a handmade Custom Shop electric guitar that is a replica of the original 1960 Les Paul Special and not only features the iconic double-cut look in a Cherry Red finish but also transports the timbre of its original into our modern age. The built-in Custom Soapbar P-90 pickups deliver a sound that ranges from sparkling highs and clean crunch to juicy distortion and more than lives up to its 1960s roots. The solid one-piece mahogany body is complemented by a mahogany neck with a 1960 Slim Taper profile, while the 22-fret rosewood fingerboard provides ample comfort and a unique playing feel. The 1960 Les Paul Special DC pays tribute to the precise craftsmanship of the past and comes with a matching case including a certificate.

Comfortable playing style with one-piece mahogany body and 1960 slim taper neck profile

With the Les Paul Special, Gibson launched an extended version of the Les Paul Junior at the end of the 1950s - compared to the Junior, the Les Paul Special also had a second P90 pickup. Both models were characterized by a one-piece mahogany body without a maple top and offered significantly more comfort for extensive solos or rough riffs. The 1960 Les Paul Special DC delivers the same construction, guaranteeing a comfortable playing style. In addition, the authentic slim taper neck profile, which was used for the Les Paul Special models from 1960 onwards, has been reproduced identically. Thanks to a lower pickup position and the 1960 Slim Taper neck profile, extroverted playing styles are more comfortable to handle and can be realized with sufficient expression.

The Gibson P90 pickups in the neck and bridge position provide a crystal-clear timbre and convey a warm vintage tone that sounds like the 1960s original. Clean and crunch sounds in particular are characterized by a dense character and skilfully bring the treble into focus. At the same time, there is enough power in the basses and mids so that even harder overdrive is handled wonderfully by the 1960 Les Paul Special DC.
