Solid mahogany body & neck
The body of the Gibson 1963 Les Paul SG Custom Maestro Vibrola VOS ClassicWhite #503163 is made in one piece from solid mahogany, following the classic recipe. A neck, also made of mahogany, with a classic 1960 Slim Taper profile, is attached to the agile neck heel via a resonant glue joint. The custom version has a 22-fret ebony fingerboard with a 12" radius and traditional mother-of-pearl block inlays.
As the last 'Les Paul' vintage of the SG and also the first SG Custom model with Maestro Vibrola, the Gibson 1963 Les Paul SG Custom Matestro Vibrola Classic White ULA #200683 marks an important piece of company history.
Triple custom bucker configuration
Thanks to its triple humbucker configuration, the Les Paul SG Custom offers additional sound options compared to the standard version, providing both pioneers like Sister Rosetta Tharpe and modern players like Mastodon's Brent Hinds with the right voice for every occasion. For this, the Gibson Custom Shop relies on three hand-wound and tuned custom bucker pickups, which produce warm and vocal sounds in all positions thanks to their Alnico III pickups. The trio is controlled via two volume and tone controls as well as a 3-way switch that activates the middle pickup in the Center position.
Nitro finish with VOS aging
As an additional special feature, the Gibson 1963 Les Paul SG Custom Maestro Vibrola VOS ClassicWhite #503163 offers a historically accurate Classic White nitrocellulose finish, which is completely in keeping with the classic originals of the era with the help of the VOS treatment. The surface texture of the nitrocellulose finish is slightly aged to give the SG Custom both the look and feel of the originals. The gold hardware in the form of the six Grover tuners, the classic ABR-1 Tune-o-Matic and the Maestro Vibrola also has a light aging treatment with a minimal vintage patina.
