Authentic replica of an SG Standard with Maestro Vibrola from 1964
The Gibson 1964 SG Standard Maestro Vibrola Faded Cherry Heavy Aged #203594 is a successful replica of the SG vintage that marked the end of the 'Les Paul SG' era and came up with some welcome improvements. The doublecut guitar in the version that Eric Clapton or George Harrison already appreciated, features the then newly introduced Maestro Vibrola as a replacement for the Sideways version, powerful and vocal-sounding pickups and a more powerful neck profile that leads back to the ideal of 1959. Gibson Custom Shop with an elaborate Murphy Lab aging treatment and of course comes with a matching hardshell Case and certificate of authenticity.
The Gibson 1964 SG Standard Maestro Vibrola Faded Cherry Heavy Aged #203594 with Maestro Vibrola, Custombucker humbuckers and stylish Murphy Lab Heavy Aged treatment.
The stronger mahogany neck of the Murphy Lab 1964 SG Standard is glued with a long neck foot and hide-glue.
Long Neck Tenon & Hide Glue
This replica model of the Gibson 1964 SG is based on the historically accurate construction of the '64 SG. The matching instrument consists of a one-piece body made of solid, yet lightweight mahogany and a neck also made of mahogany. This has the traditional long neck heel (Long Neck Tenon) and is glued to the body with glass-hard hide-glue for improved resonance behavior. Last but not least, the more powerful "Authentic '64 Medium C" neck profile conjures up the usual classic feel in the style of the Gibson solidbody guitars of the late fifties.
Custom bucker with Alnico III magnets and hand-wired electrics with high-quality components deliver authentic vintage sounds.
Custombucker with hand-wired electrics
The two Custombucker humbuckers in the neck and bridge positions are true classics of the Gibson Custom Shop are used. The pickups, wound according to the traditional PAF recipe, produce amazing tonal qualities that create the right basis for a wide range of possible sounds. The complete wiring of the Gibson 1964 SG Standard Maestro Vibrola Heavy Aged is hand-wired and uses high-quality components in the form of CTS potentiometers, a Switchcraft output jack and genuine Black Beauty capacitors for authentic Treble roll-offs of the tone controls.
The Kluson tuners in the historically correct "Single Line/Double Ring" design of the sixties are also subjected to the Murphy Lab treatment.
Finish & Hardware with Light Aging Treatment
Both the Hardware and the Finish of the SG Standard Maestro Vibrola Faded Cherry Heavy Aged have undergone a Murphy Lab Light Aged treatment, which was developed by none other than aging expert Tom Murphy and his team. Authentic signs of wear can be found on the Maestro Vibrola plus ABR-1 bridge, the traditional Kluson tuners and both humbucker caps, while the beautiful Faded Cherry nitrocellulose lacquer shows the proudly displayed traces of a frequently live played but well-kept original.
