The result of many years of research and development, the Gibson Custombucker represents the gold standard of the Gibson Custom Shop and is regarded as a historically accurate reproduction of the legendary “Patent Applied For” humbucker found in iconic late 1950s instruments. For its warm and rounded tonal qualities, the Custombucker uses Alnico III magnets and follows traditional production methods. Each pickup’s two coils are wound with 42 AWG wire and left unwaxed, with slightly different numbers of windings to give every Custombucker its own unique character.
