The Gibson J-45 Standard 2018 Vintage Sunburst is a 6-string electro acoustic guitar featuring a spruce top, a mahogany body, a mahogany neck, a rosewood fingerboard and an vintage sunburst finish. This new J-45 for 2018 features a round-shouldered dreadnought body shape that can be driven by a hard pick attack, delivering rich, deep tones, capable of handling lead-line picking too.
The J-45 is built with an attractive sitka spruce top, producing a broad dynamic range and crisp articulation, projecting a sparkling high response and tight, clear attack. Resonating well whilst remaining strong and focused, this guitar offers a clear sound with deep lows, warm midi-range and bright sparkling highs. Mahogany back and sides add a strong, clear, fundamental with a warm, earthy sound.
The J-45's mahogany neck delivers plenty of resonance with superb durability, whilst a silky smooth action enables a snappier attack in the mid-range with a punchy edge when driven with a hard pick attack. Topped with a rosewood fingerboard that offers a smooth and energetic playing experience and a warm, bright sparkling-sizzle, this neck provides stability and a sonic warmth.
Equipped with an L.R. Baggs VTC Element Pickup featuring a low-profile undersaddle pickup and an unobtrusive and removable volume/tone control mounted just inside the soundhole, this guitar delivers a robust, lively, and natural acoustic sound with excellent dynamics and delicate high end. The Element works with a standard 9V battery, which is housed inside the guitar.

I have never bought play a new guitar, this is the first and the glue smell still catch me))
The overall craftsmanship on this guitar is good. That said there is a imperfection on my guitar, more specifically the glue being observable to the naked eye, which is pretty disappointing considering the huge price it retails for. Sound is really great, no complaints here. The guitar looks and feels great, with the exception of the glue like I said. If you have the money to spend it's a great guitar, that said the price is preeety steep, so it comes to personal opinion in regards to Price/Performance. I believe you can find great guitars for half the price of this one. Still I've tested it on a lot of different tracks and genres and it is very malleable. It's a great guitar to have and I have definitely enjoy playing it!
So much has been said about this Guitar over the years. This is my first Gibson acoustic and I'm comparing it with my Martin D18 which I've gigged with for about 15 years. I have to say I think this may become my favourite acoustic!
My friend has been telling me about round-shouldered dreadnoughts for years. Finally got round to buying one and I'm very glad I did. For strumming there's nothing beats a good dreadnought and this is definitely very good indeed. It also flat and finger picks really well. What's not to love?
