With the Gibson Jerry Cantrell Atone Songwriter, the US manufacturer from Bozeman in Montana presents a special version of its popular Songwriter model, which with its modified features is specially adapted to the demands of the "Alice in Chains" guitarist, Jerry Cantrell. Thus, the square-shoulder dreadnought acoustic guitar comes with a flatter body, an eye-catching pickguard and numerous mother-of-pearl inlays. The flat neck, in combination with a generous cutaway, also offers optimal playability up into the upper registers, so that even complex fingering patterns can be mastered easily and obligingly. At the same time, the gold-plated tuners promise precise tuning. Another highlight is the built-in pickup, which makes the instrument suitable for stage use. The scope of delivery includes a sturdy hardshell case.

Construction and woods

In order for the guitar to produce defined midrange and treble frequencies, the top is made of solid Sitka spruce. The fine-grained wood from the North of America is perfectly suited for the construction of high-quality musical instruments thanks to its fine and even structure. To give the bass frequencies a warm and at the same time crisp note, the back and sides are made of solid rosewood. Thus, the guitar is perfectly suited for vocal accompaniment and more than lives up to the name "songwriter". The flat mahogany neck is equipped with an Advanced Response profile, which is extremely flattering to the player's hand. As a result, the rosewood fingerboard is very accommodating to use.

Hardware and Design

Since the 44.45mm wide nut and compensated saddle are made of GraphTech TUSQ, the strings intonate perfectly throughout the 648mm scale length. With the help of the gold-plated Grover Rotomatic tuners, the dreadnought guitar can be tuned particularly easily. The fretboard is marked with generous mother-of-pearl parallelogram inlays that mark the most important of the 20 frets. The delicate cream-colored multi-ply bindings are very tastefully matched to the eye-catching "Circle in Square" pickguard. Besides the "12" inlay in the 12th fret, the trussrod cover with the artist's signature is among the guitar's visual features.

Electronics
