The Gibson Jimmy Page EDS-1275 Doubleneck VOS '69 Cherry at a glance
There are only a few instruments that have truly become legends because of their unique features. One of these is the famous Gibson EDS 1275 Double Neck, which became a true icon of rock history in the hands of legends like Jimmy Page. With the Gibson Jimmy Page EDS 1275 Doubleneck VOS '69 Cherry, Gibson presents a very special version of this iconic double neck guitar, prominently featured on the recording and in live performances of Led Zeppelin's "Stairway to Heaven." The US guitar maker has focused on achieving the highest level of authenticity, using classic features from the original to bring fans and collectors closer than ever to the incomparable sound. This includes a case and certificate!
12-string neck & 6-string neck made from mahogany
Following the design of the original from the late fifties, the Gibson Custom Shop uses solid mahogany for the base construction of the Jimmy Page EDS 1275. Both necks feature the authentic EDS 1275 back shape and are fitted with rosewood fingerboards that have 20 medium jumbo frets. The classic split parallelogram inlays on both fingerboards serve as fret markers, while the top saddles made from Corian ensure resonant tones and reliable tuning stability.
Gibson Jimmy Page EDS-1275 Custombucker Pickups
Both the 12-string and 6-string sections of the Jimmy Page EDS 1275 are equipped with two Jimmy Page EDS 1275 Custombucker humbuckers in both the neck and bridge positions. These pickups were specially made for the Custom Shop model and are modeled after the sound of Jimmy's original double neck. The guitar features a classic three-way toggle switch for pickup selection. Additionally, a three-position switch allows the necks to be activated separately or simultaneously. As expected, the wiring is hand-wired, with CTS potentiometers, a Switchcraft jack, and original 'Ceramic Disc' capacitors.
Authentic hardware
The Gibson Jimmy Page EDS 1275 Doubleneck VOS '69 Cherry is completed with the same hardware used on the original. Both necks feature a True Historic ABR 1 Tune-o-Matic bridge, with a matching claw tailpiece designed for each neck’s respective string configuration. On the headstocks, 18 Kluson tuners in the historically correct 'Double Line/Double Ring' design ensure the right look and functionality. As a genuine Custom Shop instrument, this special model also comes with additional goodies, including a matching case, a vintage leather strap, and a signed certificate of authenticity, complete with a photograph of Jimmy Page with his instrument taken by Barrie Wentzell.
