Custom store signature electric guitar by Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards

With the Keith Richards 1960 ES-355 Collector's Edition, Gibson presents a faithful reproduction of one of the most iconic semi-hollow guitars in rock history. The model is based exactly on the black ES-355, which Keith Richards used both in the studio and on tour from 1969, including during the recordings for Exile or Main St. and Sticky Fingers. The guitar was made in Gibson Custom Shop in Nashville, is based on precise 3D scans of the original and is limited to just 100 pieces worldwide. Each instrument bears Keith Richards' handwritten signature on the F-hole label and is clearly aimed at collectors and lovers of historically accurate custom store instruments. The guitar is supplied in a Custom Shop hardshell case including certificate and exclusive accessories (skull scarf, strap).

Authentic reproduction at the highest Custom store level

The body consists of a three-ply maple/poplar/maple construction with red spruce bracing and a weight-reduced center block that promotes Sustain and minimizes feedback. The elaborate multi-ply binding on the top, back and headstock corresponds exactly to the historical model. The mahogany neck with special Keith Richards profile is defined as strong and comfortable and is complemented by a bound ebony fingerboard with 22 frets and mother-of-pearl block inlays. The Hardware features an ABR-1 wire bridge, a Bigsby B7 vibrato and Grover Rotomatic tuners with milk-bottle wings. All parts such as the pickups cover, Hardware and the Ebony nitro lacquer finish have been artificially aged using the Murphy Lab process to realistically recreate the look and feel of the original.

The Custombucker Aged Alnico 5 humbuckers deliver a great vintage sound that authentically captures the Roling Stone character.

In terms of sound, the ES-355 is equipped with two unwaxed custom bucker humbuckers fitted with aged Alnico 5 magnets. These pickups deliver an open signal with a clear response and typical vintage midrange structure. The electronics consist of two volume and two tone controls with CTS-500k potentiometers and paper-in-oil capacitors, as used in the original. The result is an authentic semi-hollow sound with transparent articulation that is suitable for both rhythmic chord work and distinctive leads.
