Electric guitar from Gibson with Seafoam Green high-gloss finish
The Gibson Les Paul Modern Figured Seafoam Green combines the iconic design of the classic Les Paul with some useful contemporary features that give the successful model new sound facets, improved playability and stunning looks. With two Burstbucker Pro pickups and extended switching options, the instrument from the Gibson USA Modern Collection leaves no sound wish unfulfilled, while the SlimTaper neck with contoured neck heel ensures the best playability in all registers. Furthermore, Gibson gives the Les Paul Modern Figured a matching hardshell Case for safe transportation to rehearsals and gigs.
The Gibson Les Paul Modern Figured skillfully combines a classic Paula feel with modernized features.
Mahogany body with AAA curly maple top
The body, made from solid mahogany according to the classic recipe, provides the resonant basis for the tonal character of the instrument and features classic Paula contours. The two-piece flamed maple top in AAA quality is an absolute eye-catcher, which, in combination with the powerful flame and refreshing Seafoam Green high-gloss finish, creates the unique look of the Les Paul Modern Figured. The basic construction is completed by a slim SlimTaper neck made of mahogany with an ergonomic Modern Contoured heel and a 22-fret ebony fingerboard with all-round binding.
Gibson USA Burstbucker Pro pickups with flexible wiring
The Gibson Les Paul Modern Figured draws its tonal versatility from its two humbuckers and the underlying wiring. In the neck position, a Gibson USA Burstbucker Pro provides warm and vocal sounds, while the Gibson USA Burstbucker Pro + at the bridge provides enough steam for hotter rock and metal sounds. The push/pull function of the two volume controls can be used to switch both pickups separately to coil tap mode for airy, clear sounds, while the two tone controls can be used to activate either phase inversion or bypass mode. The latter removes the entire wiring from the signal path and connects the pickups directly to the output socket.
After a long wait, this beautiful guitar was finally purchased and now being enjoyed since middle December At a first glance it is just magnificent, real AAA grain figuring all across the body so main aesthetics test passed upon unboxing with higher grades. It did have two scratches that with some extra polishing on the areas upon upcoming cleaning sessions, I expect to be non visible soon and if not going away, then we have beauty marks to give her extra personality.
There is a lot of stuff under the hood so this baby is fully loaded. The pickups I had before in another guitar, also with the coil split. Liked them then, love them now. It is not really the sound of a paf when you split but changing on the go from playing Peppers to the Reverend is just as simple as dialing adequately in forehand, and using all these fancy nobs and options to alter the sound a bit. The phase is there, use it sometimes but not too often. My favorite is to combine the direct and volume&splits. With these you can achieve on the go combinations to alter your sound considerably at a nobs touch.
I am used to normal wired guitars instead of entire circuit boards but nice that you could eventually change pups quickly and solderless with the easy connect system. Beware same color connector though, think it is the latest white cabled ones you can change. Hope that I don't have to do any electronics on this guitar since it does look like the Enterprise of the electronics cavities once opened.
As per the neck, playability out of the box and preliminary set up. It was ok and playable. I increased gauge to 11s and have to adjust a bit the neck since it came already a bit flat and with the string tension increase, the neck needs adjustment. Hope to have a moment today to finally close the neck chapter. The tailpiece came almost nailed to the body which I truly do not like at all. Low yes, glued to body nope....this is the main challenge I have this coming days, finally setting this one up to my likings, again hope I get some time to adjust this.
Overall a magnificent guitar with to my taste, the greatest finish of this Modern series.
The green seafoam I really did not like even if liking green guitars. The red finish on the contrary was a stronger competitor since I always liked red but I did not really see the burst. Very subtle but also beautiful.
What I really did not like were the horrible translucid nobs, I immediately changed them to a more suitable black top hats with silver top and now it has the nobs she deseves. Have another guitar these translucid could actually be perfect for a ETB studio Les Paul....time will tell
Overall a magnificent guitar.
