In the spirit of this iconic instrument, the LP Custom faithfully reproduces the original’s appointments while incorporating personalized features inspired by the exceptional musician himself.

Classic construction of the LP Custom

The body of the Gibson Peter Frampton "Phenix" Les Paul Custom is crafted from extra-lightweight mahogany with an arched top and 9-hole weight relief, closely matching the original instrument’s weight and balance. The guitar features multi-ply body binding and a refined Ebony finish in true LP Custom style. The Peter Frampton Phenix neck profile, modeled after the original, ensures optimal conditions for expressive lead playing, particularly for the left hand.

Three Custom bucker and paper-in-oil capacitors

For authentic Frampton tones, the guitar is equipped with three Gibson Custom Shop Custom Bucker humbuckers. Featuring Alnico III magnets and no additional capacitors, the pickups offer a wide tonal palette. The neck and bridge pickups are controlled via a traditional 3-way toggle with standard volume and tone controls, while the middle pickup has separate volume and treble blend controls. Tonal shaping is further enhanced by true-to-original Paper-in-Oil capacitors for natural treble roll-off.

The hardware faithfully reproduces the original Phenix setup, designed for professional performance. Schaller Security Locks provide reliable strap security, while the resonant Tune-o-Matic bridge and lightweight aluminum stopbar deliver direct sound transfer to the body. Completing the hardware ensemble in uniform VOS Gold finish are six Grover kidney-style tuners.
