For the 40th anniversary Gibson USA presents the Gibson RD Artist 40th Anniversary, a reissue electric guitar from the 1977 offset classic: two active Gibson GEM humbuckers in neck and bridge position deliver powerful and flexible sounds of classic and hard rock, while the glued mahogany neck in rounded profile evokes the traditional Gibson feeling. Gibson is also equipping the RD Artist 40th Anniversary with solid and functional hardware in the form of gold-plated Grover Keystone Locking tuners and the classic Tune-o-Matic/Stopbar combination.
Following the authentic body design of the early RD, the RD Artist 40th Anniversary has authentic body dimensions and shapings. Solid mahogany is used for the construction of the neck and body, which comes out thanks to the transparent vintage sunburst finish. The glued neck in rounded profile has a granadillo fretboard, which underlines the accessibility of the highest fretboard positions thanks to the extra flat neck foot.
A true rock machine, the Gibson RD Artist 40th Anniversary is equipped with two powerful Gibson GEM pickups. Both pickups feature a 9V battery powered active preamp for increased output and tonal flexibility. Accordingly, Gibson's GEM humbuckers provide enough horsepower on every amp for licks with the extra portion of steam and crunch. The RD Artist's electronics are controlled via a classic 3-way toggle, two separate volume controls and a master tone.
