Here Gibson combines the traditional mahogany body with a glued maple neck, whose "rounded" profile guarantees optimal playing characteristics. The classic Alnico II pickups turn out to be the successor of the legendary PAF humbuckers, but offer a slightly increased output to get powerful clean and overdrive sounds out of the guitar amp. While Gibson 490R humbucker in neck position promises a warm sound for soulful cleans and singing Overdrive, the slightly emphasized upper mids of Gibson 490T at the bridge provide a high assertiveness even with juicy distortion. A classic passive electrics with its own volume and tone controls for each pickup also allows the exact adjustment of the sound.
