Compact Preamp with Class-A electronics
The Golden Age Audio PRE-73 Jr Premier is a microphone and instrument preamplifier that produces a warm and powerful sound with Vintage character. The device has a high-pass filter, adjustable via the associated toggle switch, with two selectable frequencies at 40 Hz and 170 Hz. The air EQ boost, which can be used to add some level in the upper frequency range, is also set via a toggle switch and has two selectable options: One at 3 dB and at 6 dB, with its center frequency at 30 kHz. If the toggle switches are in the middle, the respective section is switched off. High-impedance instruments can be connected via the "DI socket", which has an impedance of 100 kΩ, on the front of the PRE-73 Jr Premier. At the same time, the connection on the rear of the device can be used, as the DI input must be activated via the corresponding switch. There is also an unbalanced "insert" socket on the rear panel, which can be used to connect an effects unit or similar device with an operating level of around -10 dBu to -18 dBu. The switches for setting the phantom power (incl. LED) and phase inversion as well as the rotary controls for gain (20 dB to 70 dB) and output are also located on the front of the preamp.
