Gretsch G 6241 Case for Elestromatic-SerieGreat case for Gretsch G5420/2 models with fitted Bigsby. Well made by TKL brand; also used by Gibson. Solid construction with five latches ensuring good security. Interior lining offers excellent protection.
I recently purchased the Gretsch G6241 case for my 6120, and unfortunately, I have to express my disappointment with the overall quality, especially given the premium price point (over 200 EUR, not including shipping and import fees).
While the case offers decent protection and fits the 6120 well, the finish and craftsmanship leave much to be desired. The outer material is visibly synthetic and has a rough, uneven edge along the binding, where you can clearly see the glue seams. In one area, the edge was already peeling away from the case, which is absolutely unacceptable for a brand-new product. I had to fix it myself using super glue, but that’s not something you expect to do with a premium accessory.
I compared this new case to an older Gretsch case I received with a used guitar – while that one was worn and had seen better days, its craftsmanship was miles ahead. The material was applied seamlessly, the edge transitions were clean and flush, and overall it just felt more premium and durable.
This new case feels rushed and poorly assembled, despite being marked “Made in Canada.” Frankly, I’ve seen better construction in budget Chinese-made cases. For something carrying the Gretsch name and priced at a premium, I expected better fit and finish, cleaner edges, and no need for DIY repairs out of the box.
Unless the quality control improves, I can’t recommend this case – especially considering the total cost of shipping and handling. It simply doesn’t reflect the standard one would expect from Gretsch.
